NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING APPLICATION NO. 14-HD-01 Notice is hereby given that the HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD of the City of Sarasota, Florida, will meet on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 3:00 P.M. in the Commission Chambers, City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida. The following application will be considered at the above scheduled meeting: HISTORIC DESIGNATION APPLICATION NO. 14-HD-01 IS A REQUEST TO LOCALLY DESIGNATE THE BUILDING LOCATED AT 261 - 265 SOUTH ORANGE AVENUE; SAID STRUCTURE, PROPOSED TO BE KNOWN AS THE "SCOTT COMMERCIAL BUILDING," IS A 1960 MODERN STYLE BUILDING DESIGNED BY WI LLIAM RUPP. THE BUILDING IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE SARASOTA SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND IS A ONE-STORY BUILDING WITH STUCCO EXTERIOR, LARGE PANEL WINDOWS, FLAT ROOF AND LARGE EXTENDING CONCRETE RAFTER BEAMS, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN SAID APPLICATI ON. Said proposed application is on file in the Department of Neighborhood and Development Services and the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk at City Hall at the above address for public inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a public hearing; therefore, all interested persons will be entitled to personally testify at the hearing and to submit documents or letters. Persons granted status as an Affected Person by the Historic Preservation Board will additionally be allowed to present the sworn testimony of other witnesses, relevant exhibits and other documentary evidence and to cross-examine witnesses. In order to q ualify as an Affected Person, a person who may be adversely affected by the action of the Historic Preservation Board must file a Request for Affected Person Status form with the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk at least five (5) working days prior t o the quasi-judicial hearing. The Request for Affected Person Status form is available at the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida, telephone number (941) 954-4160. If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure tha t a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. Reasonable auxiliary aids and services will be made available to qualified disabled individuals to the extent that no undue financial or administrative burden results. Please advise the Department of Neighborhood and Development Services at least two (2) business days in advance as to the nature of the aid and/or service desired. CITY OF SARASOTA By: Pamela M.
